The Shore at Ka'anae

While we were stopped for lunch on the backside of Maui, we got to see some beautiful shoreline, comprised of black lava rocks. This is the side of the island that is exposed to rougher waters, making for beautiful waves crashing. Jesse took some really great pictures while Papa, Lee, Austin and I played on the rocks near the water's edge.PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket

Waterfalls on the Road to Hana

There were quite a number of waterfalls on the Road to Hana, and we tried to stop at all of the easier-access spots to see them. Lee, our Brother-in-Law, swam in quite a few. We ended up at the end of the road at a place called the "Seven Sacred Pools" and all of us swam for a couple of hours in the beautiful fresh-water pools there. Of course we didn't take any pictures there, but my Dad took a whole bunch so I will be sure to post them when they arrive from him. As for the waterfalls along the road-side, here are some pictures:PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket

Cousins at Ka'anae

While we were driving the road to Hana, we stopped at a great little spot called Ka'anae for lunch. The local fruit stand at which we ate our lunch sold monstrous shave-ice cups in lots of delicious tropical flavors. Austin shared his shave-ice with his two cousins. Jordan (4 yrs) is the blond and Tyler(7yrs) is the red-head. They were all so intent on the delicious shave-ice that I was able to snap a few pictures of the event. At one point, Jordan looked across the table at Jesse's shave-ice and remarked in the most polite voice, "Uncle Jesse, I don't believe I've tried your shave-ice," at which point Uncle Jesse most courteously offered the young man a bite. Rainbow Eucalyptus on Maui

We're back from Maui and had such a wonderful time! I've decided to make several separate posts about our adventures to break it up a little.

On our second day, we traveled the long and winding road around the island of Maui to the little tiny town of Hana on the backside of the huge Haleakala volcano. There are Eucalyptus trees growing all over the island, and on the road to Hana there is an especially beautiful grove of them known as "rainbow eucalyptus" because of their beautiful multi-colored trunks.

I got some great pictures of them - I hope they are b
ig enough so you can see the colors!

The Bar Exam is over!

So I'm just back in town from the Texas Bar Exam. I wish I'd had more to blog about over the summer but there just wasn't time or anything going on but my studies.

As it turned out, I arrived in town last night fairly late and Jesse picked me up at the airport. As exhausted as I was, it was such a wonderful surprise that my friend Ida Zeiler had conspired with Jesse and come over earlier in the day and put up all these wonderful hearts and decorated the front of my
house with balloons! What a wonderful surprise and homecoming!

Here are some pictures:

Next we are off to enjoy Hawaii for a while with my entire family - Let the fun begin!
